Breakfast Of Champions, August 2007, 7.5/10.
Written (and illustrated) by Kurt Vonnegut. Published by The Dial Press.
Great read, and it works on so many different levels – which is helped by the cute illustrations. Hoover’s affliction is the product of so many things that the novel hints at, but in the end it is a combination of all the elements of the world he lives in, complete with the fantastic introduction to what America is all about, including the positive spin on absolutely everything. Great ability to touch on so many problems that are not obvious but contribute to the creation of all the ‘bad chemicals’. PS – Great West Point quote on p. 157.
