A Tranquil Star (Translated by Ann Goldstein and Alessandra Bastagli), January 08, 8/10.
Written by Primo Levi. Published by Norton.
This set of short stories grew on me – the first part seemed to be a little, well, not dull but not exciting either. Nevertheless, they did improve, and I found the later stories more enjoyable. The stories are creative, and I wonder if some of the creativity, perhaps with the earlier stories, is simply not as apparent to a modern reader as it was to those reading closer to the writing. Regardless, I found these stories to be memorable and delightfully imaginative, as well as very easy to read – always a plus!
